  • OVERVIEW

Infrared Thermography Level 2 is an advanced training program designed for professionals who want to enhance their knowledge and skills in thermal imaging, temperature measurement, and infrared inspection analysis. The course focuses on advanced infrared theory, equipment operation, error analysis, quantitative thermography, report generation, and interpretation of thermal anomalies for predictive maintenance and condition monitoring applications. The program is commonly aligned with internationally recognized standards such as ISO 18436 and ASNT guidelines.

  • LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the training, participants are expected to:

    • Understand advanced infrared thermography principles and heat transfer concepts
    • Perform accurate thermal inspections and temperature measurements
    • Identify and minimize measurement errors caused by emissivity, reflectivity, and environmental conditions
    • Analyze thermal patterns and detect equipment anomalies
    • Operate infrared cameras using advanced functions and settings
    • Interpret thermographic data for electrical and mechanical applications
    • Prepare professional thermography inspection reports
    • Apply thermography techniques for predictive maintenance and condition monitoring
  • TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED

    • Thermometry Fundamentals: Temperature scales, contact & non-contact thermometers, error reduction
    • Advanced IR Theory: Radiant power, Planck’s blackbody curves, power-temperature relationships
    • Measurement Errors & Corrections: Calibration, reflectance, emittance, transmittance, target size/distance calculations
    • Traceable Temperature Limits: Delta T and absolute temperature classifications, equipment-specific limits
    • Quantitative Reporting: Data gathering, image processing, and report generation

  • RESOURCE PERSON

    Mr. Vincent Jason Peñalosa

    Certified Level 3 Thermographer

Mr. Jek Peñalosa graduated BS Commerce from the University of Sto Tomas and later took a special course in audio technology from Digidesign Pro Tools Certification Program in California, USA. He is a certified Pro Tools Music and Production Operator (First in the Philippines, First in Asia).

As an audio engineer himself, he was recognized by one of the two Asian technical persons in digital audio. He also conducts lectures to broadcast stations, primarily in ABS – CBN and other broadcast stations on audio systems.

He received his Level 3 Certification in Thermography through the Infrared Training Center of Sweden, Stockholm. Mr. Jek attended power system training and seminars from Bender systems in Germany, Doble Engineering conferences for many years, and attended various training in the power system in Asia, US, and Europe. He now works full-time as VP for Sales and Marketing of Westco Electrical & Equipment Corp.

He is also PamavTech’s Resource speaker for Infrared Thermography and Power Quality and Harmonics.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    • Completion of Infrared Thermography Level 1 training is highly recommended
    • Open to Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Maintenance Personnel, Reliability Engineers, Inspectors, Technicians, Engineering Students, and individuals involved in condition monitoring and predictive maintenance
    • Basic knowledge of infrared thermography and thermal imaging is an advantage but not mandatory for experienced technical personnel
    • Participants should be willing to engage in hands-on activities, practical demonstrations, and case study discussions.
    • Participants are encouraged to bring their own Thermal camera for analysis exercises and report preparation activities.
